Sealdah, April 13, 2025 – In a commendable display of alertness and efficiency, Chief Inspector of Tickets (CIT)/Sealdah Sri Manash Adhikary on train number 12260 successfully apprehended a miscreant attempting to rob a passenger.
On April 12, 2025, an unidentified individual entered in coach B/10 and snatched mobile sets, a purse, and a Gold necklace from Mrs. Swaranalata Joshi (F/45), who was occupying berth number 05. The swift alarm raised by the passenger was immediately responded to by the vigilant TTE present in the vicinity.
Driven by a heightened sense of responsibility and motivation, instilled through the Sr. DCM Sealdah Sri Jasram Meena ‘s consistent and positive counselling sessions, CIT/SDAH acted swiftly and decisively with the assistance of fellow passengers, coach attendant, and checking staff, the miscreant was successfully apprehended within the coach.
This prompt action not only prevented the accused from escaping but also ensured the immediate recovery of the stolen belongings, which were subsequently returned to a relieved Mrs. Joshi. The successful apprehension is a direct testament to the increased motivation and dedication among front line railway staff, fostered by the Sr. DCM/ Sealdah Sri Meena’s leadership and emphasis on maintaining a secure and passenger-friendly environment. His focus on positive reinforcement and instilling a sense of duty has demonstrably contributed to a more vigilant and passenger-centric workforce.
The accused was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRPs) at Sealdah (SDAH), with GD No. 568 dated 12.04.2025 has been registered regarding the incident.
DRM Sealdah Sri Deepak Nigam stated that this incident serves as a shining example of how proactive counselling and strong leadership can significantly enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of railway personnel and prioritize passenger safety and security has further supported such positive outcomes.
