Newssuper:*SEALDAH DIVISION TAKES HOST OF MEASURES TO CONTROL PRAYAGRAJ BOUND RUSH OF PILGRIMS*

In recent past, we have witnessed a spate of unfortunate incidences on account of unprecedented rush of pilgrims at different Railway Stations across India. Of course, people are hell bent upon reaching Prayagraj to take the Holy dip during ongoing Mahakumbh. In order to prevent any unwanted and fateful accident, DRM/Sealdah has inspected Sealdah station today (17.02.2025) to sensitize all concerned to deal the huge mob with utmost care and precautions:-
In an endeavour to accommodate huge Prayagraj bound rush, DRM/Sealdah has critically assessed prevailing arrangement to cope up with the surge of pilgrims and has directed to take following measures for ensuring smooth handling of commuters:-
1) There will be dedicated platforms for Kumbh bound trains.
2) There will be no deviation or change in Platform no. for Mail/Express trains, once it has been declared in Public Address System.
3) National Train Enquiry System should reflect accurate information regarding arrival/departure time, platform no. etc. for Mail/Express trains.
4) Platform occupancy must be displayed properly at Display Boards.
5) Unreserved ticket sale details will be monitored periodically at highest level, so as to assess sudden surge in unreserved ticket selling and take preventive action to avoid any stampede like situation.
6) Almost all Prayagraj/Varanasi/DDU bound trains like Sealdah – Ajmer, Sealdah – Anand Vihar Sampark Kranti, Sealdah – Bikaner Duranta, Sealdah Rajdhani, Sealdah – Jammu Tawi Humsafar Express etc. are showing “Regret” for Sleeper or AC accommodations which means there is no availability of tickets in reserved classes for Kumbh pilgrims from Sealdah upto 24th of this month. In view of above, DRM/Sealdah has advised all concerned to take abundant precautions in issuing general/unreserved tickets in order to avert any untoward incidences.
7) There will be round the clock monitoring in CCTV through Central Surveillance System by specially trained RPF contingents.
8) Sufficient RPF officers and Jawans will be deployed specially for trains touching Prayagraj in order to control queue for enabling disciplined entry in coaches.
9) More battery operated cars, wheelchairs, stretchers will be made available at Sealdah and Kolkata station to reign in case of emergency.
10) An ambulance will be kept ready at Sealdah with 24/7 deployment of doctors and trained paramedical staff.
11) Station Manager will ensure availability of staff strength to facilitate pilgrims. Platforms and concourse area will be kept clean and hygienic. Adequate number of fire buckets and fire extinguishers will be there in working condition to rise upto the occasion in case of emergency.
